First performance: 29th January 2015, Turin, Italy, by the DE SONO Futura Ensemble under Willy Merz
In 2014 I was selected as a finalist for the Mario Merz Prize. Soirée is my contribution to the finalists’ concert of January 2015, at which the five finalists presented their works. A jury, as well as the votes of the audience, determined the winner of the prize, which consists of a commission for two further compositions. After the evaluation of the votes cast and the jury’s decision, I won this composition competition. As a further composition, I wrote Diagonale for string orchestra, which was premiered the following year by the Camerata Bern and Antje Weithaas.
